Solar + Storage Explained with Marc Thrum of Intelligent Generation

We’re pleased to announce that Marc Thrum, VP of Business Development for Intelligent Generation, will be our featured speaker this coming Wednesday Feb. 15th, 2017 at Coalition Energy in Chicago. RSVP here. Check out all our Solar Power Chicago Events

Energy Storage solutions are maturing and quickly becoming part of integrated Solar Power offerings. We have all heard of PV+Storage microgrids in places like Hawaii, but how does Energy Storage pair with solar right here, in the Midwest? The market which started with PJM’s fast response regulation signal is now evolving to more sophisticated, multi-benefit stream approaches. When is storage right for solar?

Intelligent Generation is a Chicago based Software-as-a-Service company and PJM member, which manages virtual power plants of distributed energy storage assets. www.intelgen.com

Solar Power is fast growing in Illinois and the Midwest. The new Future Energy Jobs Bill (SB 2814) that was passed in December 2016 strengthens the Renewable Portfolio Standard in Illinois and brings upwards of $200 million in subsidies to the industry each year. This is going to drive the expansion of the industry from 66 MW of installed solar (current) to 1350 MW by 2020 (yes, in three years!); and that will grow to 2700 MW by 2030. The Chicago Solar Power Meetup meets monthly at 5:30 pm (location varies). We welcome anyone interested in learning more about solar power, renewable energy, energy conservation and sustainability.

Chicago Solar Power Meetup will cover:
– Residential, commercial, and utility scale solar
– State and Federal incentives that support the solar and wind power industries
– Understanding the economic impact of Solar PV on your business (ROI) or home
– Solar + Battery Storage Systems (for backup power, frequency modulation and other services)
– Financing solar power projects
– Case studies of small and large scale solar projects

We welcome ideas for speakers! Please contact Tim Montague at 217.722.0429 m or tim@montaguebrands.com for more information. www.montaguebrands.com
